As Ask X3, your fleet-compliance assistant, here is what 49 CFR 382.603 requires for your motor-carrier business:

Under 49 CFR 382.603, you must ensure that every person you designate to supervise drivers receives a specific amount of training so they can spot signs of drug and alcohol trouble. Specifically, the regulation requires:

* At least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse.

* At least an additional 60 minutes of training on controlled substances use.

This training must cover the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators that point to probable alcohol misuse and controlled substances use. Your supervisors will use this knowledge to decide if reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing under § 382.307.

Please note that recurrent (repeat) training for your supervisory personnel is not required by the rule.
