Based on 49 CFR 173.423, when a limited quantity radioactive material also meets the definition of another hazard class or division (unless provided otherwise in § 173.4), you must do the following:

1. Class for the additional hazard: Classify the material based on its other hazard.

2. Package properly: Package the material to meet the requirements of either § 173.421(a) through (e) or § 173.424(a) through (g), as appropriate.

3. Offer for transport correctly: Offer the shipment for transportation following the rules that apply to the hazard for which it is classed.

Additionally, if the material is classed as something other than Class 7, it is excepted from the requirements of §§ 173.422(a), 172.203(d), and 172.204(c)(4), provided that the shipping paper includes the entry "Limited quantity radioactive material" associated with the basic description.
