What does 49 CFR 387.317 (Refusal to accept, or revocation by the FMCSA of surety bonds, etc) require?

Generated guidance. Confirm the source and its applicability before you act. How we check sources.

Under 49 CFR 387.317, the FMCSA has the authority at any time to refuse to accept—or to revoke its acceptance of—any surety bond, certificate of insurance, self-insurer qualification, or other security or agreement. The agency can take this action if it determines that the security does not comply with the regulations or fails to provide satisfactory and adequate protection for the public.

Additionally, if the FMCSA revokes its acceptance of your insurance certificate, surety bond, or other security, that revocation does not relieve you (the motor carrier) from your ongoing requirement to comply with 49 CFR 387.301(c).
