What does 49 CFR 385.419 (Effective period of safety permit) require?
Generated guidance. Confirm the source and its applicability before you act. How we check sources.
Based on 49 CFR 385.419, unless it is suspended or revoked, a standard safety permit is effective for two years.
To keep your safety permit valid, you must submit a renewal application using Form MCSA-1 (the URS online application) according to the filing schedule set forth in 49 CFR part 390, subpart E. If you fail to submit this renewal application on schedule, your safety permit is subject to revocation. However, if you submit your renewal application on time, your existing safety permit will remain in effect while the FMCSA processes your application.
