As a motor-carrier owner exporting a DOT Specification Type B or fissile material package authorized by § 173.416 or § 173.417, 49 CFR 173.472 requires you to follow these specific steps:
* Comply with Conditions: Make the shipment in accordance with the conditions of the U.S. Certificate of Competent Authority.
* Mark the Package: Ensure the outside of each package is durably and legibly marked with the package identification marking found in the U.S. Competent Authority Certificate.
* Include on Shipping Papers: Ensure every shipping paper related to the shipment bears the package identification marking from the U.S. Competent Authority Certificate.
* Obtain or Register for the Certificate: Before exporting, you must obtain a U.S. Competent Authority Certificate for the package design. If one has already been issued, you must register in writing (including a description of your quality assurance program required by 10 CFR part 71, subpart H, or 49 CFR 173.474 and 173.475) with the U.S. Competent Authority as a certificate user to receive a copy.
* Submit to Other Countries: Submit a copy of the U.S. Competent Authority Certificate to the national competent authority of each country you will transport into or through, unless you have documentary evidence that a copy has already been furnished.
